films for a fascinating guided tour. This location is the largest green set in the world. You will see 44 hobbit holes including Bilbo's house, Bag End, the Mill and double arch bridge, and the Party Tree. At this stunning location you can take a photo at the door of Bag End, looking out over the whole of Hobbiton to the hills in the distance. The guided tour concludes with a visit to the Green Dragon Inn where you will enjoy a complimentary ale, cider or ginger beer and brunch at the Shire's Rest Cafe.

Your eco-tour will then continue with an easy walk amongst New Zealand's famous kauri trees and giant ferns, where you'll hear native bird song.

The wineries of Kumeu date back to the 1930s when wine families of Croatian origin established winemaking in the area. Your first tasting is at award winning Soljans Vineyard. By skilfully marrying traditional with modern techniques, they produce stylish, richly flavoured wines. Enjoy lunch at Soljans Winery restaurant which has been built with sunshine in mind and serves Mediterranean-style food with a New Zealand twist, showcasing fresh seasonal produce from around the region. Next to tempt the taste buds is Cooper Creek before we stop at one of the few mainland gannet nesting sites in the world situated on the cliff-tops overlooking the Tasman Sea. We will then travel to West Brook Winery for your final tasting. The West Brook cellar door looks across an idyllic duck pond and terraced picnic area to row after row of vines. |
